Marjorie "Margie" Edith Walters Rose passed away peacefully at her home in Covington, LA on Wednesday, December 14, 2016. She was born on Sunday, March 14, 1937 in New Orleans, LA, the only child to Dorothy Andry and Sherman Walters. Margie grew up in New Orleans where she attended Mercy Academy through high school with continuing studies at Tulane and Loyola Universities. Margie then met her future husband William "Bill" L. Rose Jr. while teaching horseback riding at Camp St. Gertrude in Covington. She and Bill were married in New Orleans in 1961 and lived in various places around the country while Bill served in the United States Airforce. Upon completion of service in the U.S.A.F. in 1964, Margie and Bill settled in the New Orleans area and started a family. In 1978, Margie and her family relocated to Mandeville for many years before moving to Covington in 1989 where she resided till her death. The beloved wife of William Luzin Rose, Jr., she is survived by two children – Connie Rose McGougan and her husband Christopher N. McGougan and William L. Rose III and his wife, Rebecca Rayne Rose; and five grandchildren - William Robert, Christopher Rayne and Katherine Andry Rose, Jackson Charles and Brandon Allain McGougan. Her parents preceded her in death. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass at 12:00 Noon on Monday, December 19, 2016 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 20370 Smith Rd. Covington, LA 70435. Visiting hours at the church on Monday will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment at the St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery in St. Benedict, LA will immediately follow mass. A Celebration of Life will take place at St. Benedict Church after Interment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Benedict Church Building Fund.
