Mark A. Dirkse, 69, of Oostburg, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Mark was born on August 16, 1947 in Oostburg to Burton and Adrianna (Buyze) Dirkse. Mark attended Oostburg Christian Grade and was a 1965 graduate of Oostburg High School. He then attended Cerritos Community College in CA and earned his Associate Degree. On August 9, 1983 he married Diana Smith in Port Washington. Mark was a cars salesman for Patrick Dealer Group in Chicago and then was a long distance truck driver for Chizek Trucking Company. Mark was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Oostburg. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the Cedar Grove Conservation Club, where he won a new rifle through a raffle. Mark was the football captain of the 1965 Flying Dutchman. He was an avid, hunter, fisherman and gardener.Mark is survived by his wife, Diana; two sisters, Marianne (Don) Hinz of FL and Joan (Dr. T.S.) Vanderveen of MI; and two brothers, Herbert (Marjorie) of Cedar Grove and Robert (Joyce) of CA. Mark is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Rex and Ellene Smith.A private family graveside service will take place at Hartman Cemetery.A memorial fund for the in Mark's name is being established.For online condolences and additional information please visit
