Mahoney, Mark Alan Mark Alan Mahoney passed away peacefully on April 22, 2017. He was born on February 4, 1952 to the Hon. Timothy Joseph Mahoney and Estermay Harjulin Mahoney in Florence, Arizona. He grew up in Florence and graduated from high school at the top of his class. He attended Ivy League Dartmouth on a football scholarship where he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude in 1974. Following a brief career in international mining, he received a Master's Degree in International Management with honors from Thunderbird Graduate School of International Management. He was a well-respected and cherished classmate at the University of Arizona College of Law where he earned the degree of Juris Doctor with distinction in 1981. Multiple prestigious law firms recruited Mark as a result of his outstanding performance in law school and as a result practiced law for many years in the area of civil litigation. Fluent in Spanish, Mark traveled extensively in Mexico and Europe, especially enjoying Spain. Mark's fondness for Mexican food was legendary. He tirelessly roamed Phoenix, Tucson, and Pinal County searching with great success for the perfect green chile burro. His friends and family recall a vigorously outgoing and loyal friend, a devoted father, and a man truly admired for his generosity and joie de vivre. Mark was preceded in death by infant son Connor Lucas in 1988 and by his beloved and beautiful wife Kathy in 2004. Mark and Kathy are survived by daughter Molly Mae Mahoney, who is completing her first year of law school at the University of Arizona, following in the footsteps of her father and grandfather Mahoney. Those left behind to carry on Mark's legacy of love, wisdom, optimism, and that mischievous Irish wit are his brother Timothy and sisters Patricia (Andy) Grasis and Erin (Alan) Warzecha along with his much loved nephews and nieces, Dr. Juris (Gloria) Grasis, Maija Grasis (deceased), Amanda (Juan) Grasis Gutierrez, Gonzo (Christine) Grasis, Caitlin Warzecha, Cara Warzecha, and their families. A Rosary will be recited at 10:30am on Saturday, June 3, 2017 followed by the Funeral Mass at 11am at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Parish in Florence, Arizona with Msgr. Thomas Cahalane officiating.The Mass will be followed by a luncheon and remembrances of Mark in the Church Hall. Dearest Mark, forever loved and forever at peace.
