RACINE - Mark S. Halonen, age 61, passed away unexpectedly at his home on February 11, 2014. Mark was born on April 19, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois to George E. Halonen and Virginia (Sroka) Halonen. Mark attended Notre Dame High School in Niles, Illinois. Mark served in the U.S. Marines. He also belonged to the VFW. Mark was very proud of earning an associate degree from Cardinal Stritch University in 2013. Mark is survived by his mother, Virginia Halonen of Union Grove, WI. He is also survived by four brothers; Robert (Kathleen), John (Virginia), Matthew (Eileen) and Thomas (Laura). He is further survived by four nieces; Kristy, Rebecca, Laura and Constance, three nephews; Robert, Jr., Justin and Jeff, five great-nieces and nephews and also his special friend, Ellen. Mark was preceded in Death by his father, George Halonen and one nephew, Michael. There will be a visitation for Mark on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Wilson Funeral Home from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 21, 2014 at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Union Grove. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 10:00 AM until the Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow immediately at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Park.
