Mark(Skinny) DeBruin, 64, of Runnells, Iowa, passed away on November 18, 2024. He was born on April 24, 1960, to Ronald Jean DeBruin and Joann Harriet (Schagen) DeBruin in Pella, Iowa. He grew up around Monroe and Prairie City and eventually graduated from Prairie City High School. Mark met Barb (Johnston) Smith, and they have spent the last 26 years living outside Runnells on Mark's property.
From a young age, Mark always took joy in spending time outdoors. He found peace in the atmosphere and picked up numerous hobbies that would allow him to spend most of his time outside. He loved hunting and fishing but had a special love for hunting deer and elk. He had a passion for all wildlife and sometimes felt it better to keep it indoors as a pet. It wasn't uncommon for Mark to bring home a baby deer, raccoons, an owl, a turkey vulture, and even a baby beaver.
Mark lived a life full of excitement and fun. He made a lasting impression on every person that he met in some form or another. He had a unique lifestyle and lived his life the way he wanted to. Skinny was truly one of a kind and will be missed by many!
Those left to remember Mark include his wife, Barb; mother, Joann DeBruin, his siblings, Steve DeBruin and Linda(Dana) Thomas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Preceding Mark in death include his father, Ronnie Debruin, and two siblings, Tim DeBruin and Beth Seehusen.
