Marlene Benandi passed away on January 25, 2017, at the age of 68. She was born on December 31, 1948 in New Orleans and was a long time resident of Metairie. She was the daughter of the late Salvadore Benandi, Jr and the late Gloria Mayeaux Benandi. She is survived by many cousins and devoted friends. Marlene graduated from St. Mary's Dominican College New Orleans in 1970 where she was a member of Delta Kappa Phi sorority. She continued her education earning Master's Degrees at Loyola University and Masters +30 graduate hours at UNO. She was a high school business education teacher and later a counselor in the Jefferson Parish school system. She loved to travel, read and do crossword puzzles and play the slots at the casino. She was devoted to her cats, Mitzi, Annie, Maggie, Emily and Millie. In her retirement she enjoyed belonging to the People Program where she enjoyed crochet and mah jongg. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery) on Monday, January 30, 2017 at 10:00 AM. Visitation will begin at 8:30 AM. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
