Marta J. WillaimsMarta J. Williams, nicknamed M.J.  born Marta Jeanne Smith died unexpectedly from pneumonia complications in Redding California on December 8th, 2016 at the age of 68.Marta is survived by her children, Kelly Simpson and Russell McCarn, her three grandchildren, Jenna, Delaney and Brayden, two great grandchildren and Marta's partner in life, Norm Wyble.Marta was born on July 11th, 1948 in Lansing, Michigan to Dorothea and Willard Smith.She raised her two children in Charlotte, Michigan with her first husband, Lewis McCarn.  She later married Keith Williams, no longer surviving.Marta was a long-time employee of Motor Wheel in Lansing, Michigan and a long-time employee as a sergeant for the Department of Corrections in Ionia, Michigan.  After retiring from the Department of Corrections, she pursued her life-long dream as a music manager by starting her own business known as PlusOne Productions.Marta was a lover of music, dance, theater, movies, native American culture and spending time with her family and friends. People who knew her referred to her as "full of life" and "a very unique and colorful person".  She will be deeply missed by many.Her family and friends will have a celebration of life in Fitzgerald Park in Grand Ledge, Michigan on June 17th, 2017 beginning at 10:00 am with bagels and a late lunch at 1:00 pm.  Celebrations end at 5:00 pm.  All that have known her are welcome. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to "Marta Williams Trust", PO Box 3268, Weaverville, CA  96093.  Excess donations will support the Native America Land Conservancy and Douglas City School Performing and Fine Arts Program.
