MARTHA M. MILAN CEDAR LAKE, IN Martha M. (Reczek) Milan, age 80, of Cedar Lake, IN (formerly of East Chicago, IN, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016 at St. Anthony In-Patient Hospice Unit, Crown Point, IN. Martha was born on September 13, 1936 to the late Walter and Eleanor "Leona" (Kora) Reczek. She is survived by her four children: Candace (Dominick) Najolia, Gregg Milan, Kevin (Stacey) Milan, and Donna Milan; two grandsons: Ryan Milan and Matthew Milan; one sister: Virginia (Thomas) Greene; two brothers: Walter (Sheila) Reczek, and Richard (late Joan) Reczek; sisters-in-law: Olga (late John) Chovanec, Ruth (late Andrew) Milan, and Blanche (late Joseph) Milan; stepson: Ronald Milan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by her husband, George Milan (died 1997); sisters-in-law and brothers- in-law: Ann (Jack) Anderson, and Margaret (Frank) Kucek. Martha was a life-long resident of East Chicago, IN and recently came to reside in Cedar Lake, IN. She was employed by Walgreens and Malings Shoes after graduating from East Chicago Roosevelt High School in 1954. On July 28, 1956, Martha married George Milan at Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, (Indiana Harbor), East Chicago, IN. Martha took great comfort in knowing her Lord and Savior - Jesus Christ. She began each day reading her Portals of Prayer devotionals, and then the daily newspapers. Over the years, she enjoyed baking, reading, movies, music (especially Christmas music), crossword and word search puzzles. Her other pastimes included watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, NCIS, Judge Judy, tennis, golf, Chicago Bulls, and the Chicago Cubs (a/k/a 2016 World Series Champions!) on TV. She also made the BEST sauerkraut pierogis. Martha was a member St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Munster, IN. Private funeral services were held on Thursday, November 17, 2016, with Pastor Donald Stock of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating - burial followed at Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Martha will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.
