Martha Rae GeorgeFuneral services for Martha Rae George will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, April 29, 2017 in the Almondville Baptist Church of Flatwoods with Reverend Jimmy Koonce officiating. Committal service will follow in the Flatwoods Cemetery under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Alexandria.Martha, 77, of Boston, Massachussetts, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017 in the St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was born on February 10, 1940 to John D. George and Laura L Arnold George in Flatwoods along with 9 siblings. She received her Diploma from Gorum High School in 1958. She was employed at Huey P. Long Hospital as a CNA for several years, then became a stay at home mother and housewife for many years. She was a member of Almondville Baptist Church and witnessed to those around her about God's saving grace. She loved to crochet, cook, visit those she loved, talking about the "old times" and making people laugh, but, she especially loved to play domino's (which she normally won). She had a beautiful soprano voice which she used to worship God during church. Many people will remember her as a gentle, sweet, giving person. Her children will remember her as a strong woman who gave all she had and conquered the many adversities that were bestowed upon her. In short, the best Mother a person could ask for.She is preceded in death by her parents, John D. & Laura L. George; three sisters, Linnie Rachal, Virgie Basco and Edith Bolton; three brothers, William George, Lavelle George and A.L. George; grandson, Chase D. Murphy; great grandson, Drew J. Boswell; one niece, Peggy Youngblood; two nephews, Lonnie George and Lee George.Those left to cherish her memory are: her children, Robert E. Watson of Boston, Massachusetts, Brenda D. (Paul) Murphy of Colfax, Joseph R. (Tracy) Boswell of Alexandria, Christopher A. (Denise) Boswell of Birmingham, Alabama and Michelle R. (Jacob) Bonnette of Elmer; her stepchildren, Terry E. Boswell of Alexandria, Jeri L. Ingalls of Alexandria and Joseph L. (Pam) Boswell, Jr. of Lafayette; two brothers, J. H. (Cheryl) George and Darnell (Loretta) George all of Flatwoods; one sister, Bobbie J. (Francis) Bolton of Mora; twenty-four grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends that she enjoyed chatting with in Louisiana as well as in Boston. Pallbearers to serve will be Randy Boswell, Joey Boswell, Brandon Fletcher, Cade Bonnette, Larry D George, and Jeremy George. Honorary pallbearers to serve will be Paul (Bo) Murphy, Jr. and Jacob D. Bonnette.Visitation will be held in the Almondville Baptist Church, Friday, April 28, 2017 from 6 p.m. until time of service on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 2 p.m.Special thanks and deep gratitude to Bruce Corley for his sacrificial assistance and care he bestowed upon our Mother for which we are eternally grateful. We are thankful to any and all people who helped her in any way.
