Martha L. Shelp, 76, of Friendsville, passed away after an extended illness surrounded by her family at her home on Tuesday, November 29, 2016. She was born on May 24, 1940 to the late Robert, II and Dorothy Hitte in Sacramento, Calif.She is survived by her husband, Ed Shelp, Jr.; four children, Lance and Cindy A. Robertson of Binghamton, N.Y., Andrea and Bill Barrett of Endicott, N.Y., Hoa and Kim Nguyen of Wyomissing, and Jay and Sarah Robertson of Hummelstown; six stepchildren, Edward III and Marguerite Shelp of Binghamton, N.Y., James and Maureen Shelp of Brackney, Bob Shelp of Johnson City, N.Y., Kathi Murphy of Campville, N.Y., Tom and Rosa Shelp of Endicott, N.Y., and Karen and Kevin Ramminger of Atlanta, Ga.; 40 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; three sisters, Cecilia Hitte of Maine, Cathy Hitte Montgomery, and Ann and Murray Boulware of Washington; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.She is predeceased by five brothers, Jim, Phil, and Robert, Gorton, Christopher; and sister and her husband, Connie and Ed Barthold.Martha worked as an office manager for both Royal Ford Mercury and Parkway Auto and was the Comptroller for Botnick Chevrolet for 17 years. She was a member of the Montrose Garden Club, the Iroquois Auto Club, Book Club of Vestal Center, and served as treasurer of the Silver Lake Rod and Gun Club for many years. She also enjoyed spending summers at Sylvan Beach and loved spoiling her grand and great grandchildren.A gathering was held on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home, 232 S. Main St., Montrose, where the family will receive friends. Interment will be in Quaker Lake Cemetery.In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the in Martha's name.
