Obituary of Martin Storm
Belmont, California, United States
(06/09/1975 - 07/29/2023)
Martin Storm, beloved son of Tomas and Christina Storm, departed from this world on July 29, 2023. He was born on June 9, 1975 in Sweden, where he grew up with two brothers, Johan and Stefan. He had many rich experiences there, including having a pet goat and making friends with an orangutan and guanaco when he worked at the zoo.
Martin served in the army in Sweden and then pursued his education at Keuka College on a lacrosse scholarship. Always pushing himself, he decided to change to the hardest major, biochemistry; and thus started his passion for science. He continued on this path with a doctoral degree in clinical microbiology from Uppsala University back in Sweden and decided to move to the United States permanently with a postdoctoral position at Baylor College of Medicine. From there, he kickstarted his successful career in the life sciences field.
It was through work that Martin solidly found his soulmate in Karen Li, and the two sealed their love in a beautiful wedding ceremony in 2014. Together, they welcomed a son named Erik, who became the light of their lives. As a devoted husband and father, Martin always put his family's needs above his own and never missed an opportunity to show his love and support to Karen and Erik -- including being a "tiger dad" for Erik and teaching him sports, piano, art, and chess.
Martin was not only a respected and accomplished individual but also a compassionate friend who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He possessed a warm smile that could lighten up any room, and his intelligence and compassion made him a treasured friend and a pillar of support for many.
In his spare time, Martin had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hiking through the picturesque trails of California, embracing the serenity of nature. Martin loved music and could often be found playing his collection of guitars. He was also the executive chef in the Li-Storm household and shared his culinary talents with family and friends.
Martin leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and compassion. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Karen, and their son, Erik, with whom he shared countless cherished memories. He will forever be remembered by his parents, Tomas and Christina Storm, who instilled in him the values he held dear. Martin's passing has also left a void in the hearts of his extended family, friends, and colleagues, who will preserve his memory with great fondness.
Although Martin's departure leaves a profound void, his life serves as a reminder to cherish the moments we have, to express our love to those around us, and to strive towards our dreams without hesitation. May his soul find eternal peace and may his memory continue to inspire and guide us in the years to come.

I still remember the last call with Martin a couple months back. We chatted for an hour or so about work and life, as we usually did every few weeks. We were supposed to have lunch to catch up and check out his new EV. Martin was a great friend and colleague. My deepest condolences Karen and Erik. I’m sad that your time with Martin was cut short and that the world loses another kind person. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help now and in the future. I’m also sad that we won’t be able to have our routine chats and Rainbow Pizza lunches (your shrimp salad sandwich always gave me food envy). May you rest in peace. Miss you buddy. -Roland

"The two hardest things to say in life are hello for the first time and goodbye for the last." -- Moira Rogers Last week, I was struck with the unexpected and devastating news of Martin Storm's passing. Words cannot express how the world has lost such an amazing and compassionate individual. For those who have crossed paths with Martin during their career journey, you would know without a doubt that Martin always put his team members and business first. I was one of those fortunate individuals who worked closely with Martin during my tenure at Thermo Fisher while managing one of the key software projects that collaborated with his Pharma Analytics (PA) team. Throughout the project life cycle, Martin was always there to ensure the team and I had everything we needed to be successful. He would consistently check in and even met with the team in-person to enhance engagement. When I eventually permanently transitioned to manage projects within the PA business, Martin's leadership made me feel like the PA team was my second family. Even through the most challenging moments, Martin always had realistic goals and a positive outlook. To this very day, Martin will never be forgotten. He will always have a place as a memorable role model and mentor. Thank you for all the great conversations, support, and friendship, Martin. You are already greatly missed. To Karen and Erik - Sending you my heartfelt condolences. I am deeply saddened by Martin’s sudden passing and can’t imagine what you’re going through now. Please stay strong and I have no doubt Erik will grow into an amazing man. Let's continue to remember and honor Martin. Life is indeed too short.

We just learned of our wonderful and most thoughtful neighbor Martin passing - we were away and are devastated to learn the news. Martin was a true gentleman - he was kind, generous, considerate, an amazing dad, and amazing husband to Karen. Seeing the 3 of them outside playing sports -basketball, soccer, football and baseball. Always in full uniforms for each and every sport. Erik and our granddaughter Islay would play and Martin was so gentle with her learning and trying to keep up with Erik. We would hear Erik playing piano and practicing and often heard Martin play his guitars in the backyard and singing. We have so many wonderful memories of Martin - a humble but such an accomplished person. I always asked him when I would see him what was going to be on the playlist that night and we laugh - I looked forward to listening to him play his guitars while I was doing evening emails. Anything at all that we can do for the family please let us know. He will be greatly, greatly missed by all; especially Karen and Erik . This pic was taken a few nights before Martin past while he looked on proudly about how proud he was of Erik and Karen while they walked to the park with our granddaughter. We miss you so much already
