Wischmeyer, Martin "Marty"Martin "Marty" Wischmeyer, 97, of the town of Texas, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.He was born on October 13, 1919, in the town of Easton, to the late Harry and Anna (Abma) Wischmeyer. Marty grew up and attended school there before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He served during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1945. Later that year he met Beverly Engles and they were married in 1947.Marty worked in the carpentry trades and retired from Hoffer Glass. He enjoyed fishing trips to Canada, golfing at the American Legion, and league bowling at Days Bowl-A-Dome. When he needed an escape, he would spend time with his family up north at their trailer. Marty also enjoyed his time travelling the country with Beverly. Recently, Marty was able to take an Honor Flight trip to Washington, D.C. and celebrate his service while interacting with other veterans.Survivors include his wife, Beverly; children, Debra (Steve) Thorne, Guy (Linda) Wischmeyer, Todd Wischmeyer, and Brian Wischmeyer; grandchildren, Katherine (Caleb) Bahler, Roy (Kari) Thorne, Jared Thorne, Elizabeth Thorne, Joseph Thorne (fiancée, Alaina Byler), Jedidiah Thorne, Samantha (Corbin) Johnson, and Michael Wischmeyer; and seven great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William (Ethel) Wischmeyer; sisters, Gertrude (John) Bultman and Rena (Henry) Vlietstra; and one great-grandson.A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at New Hope Community Church, E1045 South County Road J, Town of Easton. Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow in Forestville Cemetery, town of Easton, with military honors provided by American Legion Montgomery-Plant-Dudley Post #10.You may sign the family guestbook at www.helke.com.
