Marvin A. MeyerDes MoinesMarvin A. Meyer, 64, died March 23, 2017 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. Marvin was born on May 27, 1952 in Keokuk, Iowa to Bernice L. and Arthur H. Meyer, Jr. He graduated from Central Lee High School in 1970 and from the commercial cooking program at Indian Hills Community College in 1971. Marvin worked as a commercial cook at various restaurants, including The New Inn at Lake Okoboji, and Baker's Cafeteria in Des Moines and for the past 21 years at Iowa Methodist and Iowa Lutheran Hospitals. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; sister, Marlene Meyer; mother-in-law, Helen Poggenpohl; aunt-in-law, Betty Mackin; brother-in-law, Steve (Linda) Poggenpohl; nephews, Preston Poggenpohl and Paul (Patty) Poggenpohl and their daughters, Megan and Abigail; and other family. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. Services will be held at Hamilton's on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA with visitation on Thursday, March 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. and the funeral service on Friday, March 31 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines. A second celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, March 30 at 2:00 p.m. at Union Park Health Services, 2401 E 8th Street in Des Moines. Condolences may be expressed at
