PetersonBrandon, SD ~ Marvin Samuel Peterson, 88, died on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Helping Hands Assisted Living Center in Brandon, SD.A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Beaver Valley Lutheran Church in rural Valley Springs, SD. Marvin Samuel Peterson was born on January 6, 1929 in Faith, SD to Samuel and Christina (Samuelson) Peterson. He grew up there until his family made their home on the Samuelson Homestead (now Beaver Creek Nature Center) near Brandon, SD. Marvin graduated from Brandon High School. Marvin then served his country in the Army. Following Marvin's time in the service he returned to South Dakota earning a bachelor's degree in Agriculture from South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD. He then taught Agriculture at SDSU for a short time. Grateful for having shared his life are his sister, Arlene Erickson of Sioux Falls, SD; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Arvid, Clarence and Harold Peterson; one sister, Eleanor Erickson; two brothers-in-laws: Kenneth and Kermit Erickson; and one sister-in-law, Emma Peterson. www.georgeboom.com.
