Mary Elizabeth Lyon Stewart, of Spotsylvania County, VA, was called to her heavenly home on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. 

Mary was born on May 29, 1932 in Charleston, WV. She graduated from Boyd County High School in Ashland, KY in 1950 and accepted a civil service job with the Navy Department, in Washington DC. It was there that she met Charles, the love of her life. Mary and Charles were married on December 11, 1954 in Washington DC, and moved to Springfield, VA in 1956. Together they traveled the US and abroad. 

Mary is survived by daughter, Laura Elizabeth Rodriguez and her husband, John Arthur Rodriguez, her son, Captain Spenser Everett Fleming of Converse, Texas and daughter, Elisa Marianne Fleming of Virginia Beach, VA, and Linda Gay Blair and her husband, Robert Bruce Blair of Mineral, VA and their son, Nathan Daniel Blair, and his wife, Melyssa Vasquez of Austin, Texas. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Charles Edward Stewart; her parents, Pay Homer Lyon and Lula G. Lyon, of Worthington, KY; and four older brothers, Robert Lyon of Riverside FL, Thomas Lyon of Virginia Beach, VA, Edwin Lyon of Ashland, KY, and his wife Janet, and John Lyon of Ashland, KY, and his wife Louise. 

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, January 29, 2024 at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
