This obituary is administered by:
Kretsch, Mary Ann (1924-2016)Mary Ann "Mouse" Kretsch, age 92, of Plymouth, WI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 17 after a short illness. Loving mother and friend to all, Mary Ann had a busy and productive life. Mouse was born on March 28, 1924 in Craig, Colorado, daughter of the late John and Mary Tomoff. She attended Colorado grade schools and graduated from Hayden Union High School in 1942. Having moved to Denver after high school, she met and married Eugene Kretsch of Plymouth, Wisconsin on December 29, 1944 at Lowery Field in Denver Colorado. Eugene was then assigned to the islands of New Guinea where he served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. During this time, Eugene had sent Mouse to live with his parents, Elmer & Louise, in Plymouth, Wisconsin until his return from the war. Mouse and Eugene owned and operated Kretsch's Tavern on Mill Street in Plymouth with her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ralph and Evelyn Kretsch. Eugene passed away on February 12, 1976, and Mouse continued to run and operate Kretsch's Tavern until 1989, when she sold it and retired. During this time she was a member of the Sheboygan County Tavern League. In retirement, Mouse continued to volunteer and enjoy life with her many friends in the community of Plymouth. Mouse was a life long member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. As a member of the church, she volunteered many hours to the organizations of The Christian Women Society, and Daughters of Isabella.Mouse also belonged to the Plymouth VFW World Cheese Center Post #5612 Women's Auxiliary and the Plymouth Women's Club. She also served on the Valley View Hospital Auxiliary Board, volunteered for the American Red Cross, worked at the Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility, Valley View Nursing Home and served Meals on Wheels. Her latest volunteer activity, which she cherished, was helping at the daycare "Growing Generations" in Plymouth. She loved "rocking the babies". Not to let her private life go unattended, Mouse played Golf in the Tuesday Morning Quit Qui Oc ladies League, Thursday Ladies Crystal Lake Golf League and The Friday V.F.W. Crystal Lake League. One of her proudest accomplishments was being an active 50 year member of the Wednesday Afternoon Crystal Lake Ladies League. And when not golfing she bowled in a league at Galaxy Lanes. She played bridge at least twice per week, and was skilled in sheepshead, cribbage and skat. Her survivors include her children: Robert (Linda) Kretsch of Boulder, Colorado, John (Diane) Kretsch of Shorewood, Wisconsin, Karol (Steve) Nelson of McGregor, Iowa, Warren (Cheri) Kretsch of Littleton, Colorado and Kevin (Kim) Kretsch of Superior, Colorado; also, 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; many nephews & nieces. Survivors also include two sisters-in-laws: Evelyn Kretsch (and the late Donald) of Plymouth and Myrna Tomoff of Kingman, AZ, and a dear friend of 80 years, Margaret Hurst of Denver, Colorado. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday Morning (November 26, 2016) at 11:00 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. Father Dennis Van Beek will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held at the CHURCH on Friday (Nov. 25) from 3:00-7:00 P.M. and on Saturday Morning from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services.
