Otto, Mary AnnMary Ann Otto, age 78, of Clintonville passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at her daughter's home.The former Mary Ann Rolf was born on January 25, 1939 in Freedom to Clarence and Lorraine (Sol) Rolf. She grew up in the Freedom area and graduated from Freedom High School in 1957. Mary Ann worked for a few years at Outagamie County Courthouse with the Register of Deeds office. She then was employed for some time at Riverside Paper and at Zwicker's Knitting Mill, both in Appleton. Mary Ann was united in marriage on August 3, 1963 to Loren J. Otto at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom. The couple lived in either the Appleton or Black Creek area for a number of years and settled in Clintonville in 1978. Mary Ann and Loren owned and operated the True Value Hardware Store in town until 1989. She had also worked in the office at Tomorrow Valley Co-op and on the production floor at LaCrosse Shoe Factory, both in Clintonville. In 1988 the couple started L & M Driver Education which she continued after her husband's passing in 1999, retiring in 2009.Mary Ann was a longtime active member of St. Rose Catholic Church where she helped out with numerous projects and fundraisers mostly for the school. She liked to go fishing on the Wolf River in the spring for walleye and enjoyed watching the birds. Mary Ann's favorite pastime was playing sheepshead with her lady friends. She loved watching her grandson's sporting events; whether it was football, baseball, basketball, or go-karting.Survivors include four children; Lori (Adam) Griesbach of Black Creek, Terry Otto of Appleton, Sandra (Dennis) Finger of Clintonville, and Kim (Drew) Skaleski of Appleton. There are nine grandchildren; Austin (friend Leasay) McKeever and Colt (friend Breanna) McKeever; Tyler, Sean, Ryan, and Justin Finger; Dorian Skaleski; Adam Joseph (Megan) Griesbach and Zachary (Lindsey) Griesbach. There is one great grandson, Henry Griesbach. She is further survived by one brother, Daniel Rolf, and a family friend, Lupe Martinez, both of Sherman Oaks, CA; many other relatives and friends. Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Loren, and an infant son Ricky.Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 9th at 11:00 AM at St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville. Fr. John "Jack" Mullarkey will officiate and burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Black Creek. Friends may call on Sunday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the Beil-Didier Funeral Home and on Monday from 10:00 AM until time of mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to "St. Rose / St. Mary's School" in memory of Mary Ann.The family wishes to thank ThedaCare at Home Hospice, especially nurses Kristy and Jolene, for the wonderful care and compassion provided to mom.
