Winkler, Mary Ann (Seiwert) 72, died Friday, March 25, 2016, after a long battle with colon cancer. She was born on September 6, 1943, and grew up on a farm in western Sedgwick County. She received a BA from Sacred Heart College (now Newman University) in 1964 and a MA from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1966. She taught English at Marquette, Washburn, and Wichita State Universities, was a reporter and editor at the Wichita Eagle, and worked as a sign language interpreter in the Wichita public schools. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Loretta (Dold) Seiwert; an infant brother; and a sister, Catherine Seiwert. Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Dana; son, Jonathan, both of Wichita; brother, Raymond Seiwert of Tucson, Arizona; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Gene Richards of Phoenix, Arizona; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry and Claudia Winkler of Bellevue, Nebraska, and their children and grandchildren. Rosary, 7 p.m. Friday, April 1, at Downing and Lahey West, 10515 W. Maple, Wichita. Funeral, 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at St. Jude Catholic Church, 3030 N. Amidon, Wichita.
