Mary Anne "Sammie" Salisbury Cook, age 64, was called to walk with our Lord on November 8, 2014. She was born on March 8, 1950 in Frankfort, IN. to the late Carl Salisbury and Betty Dowden Salisbury. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Michael Lynn of Montgomery, TX., daughter Devin Marie Cook of Pflugerville, TX., sister Linda Salisbury Waters and husband, Jerry, of Milford, Ohio; nieces Wendy and husband Andy Banks of Harrison, Ohio and their children; Gail and husband Brian Richardson of Ft. Worth, TX and their children; brother in law Robin Dee Cook and wife Judy Cochran Cook, nephews Garrett Alan Cook and Michael Robert Cook of Grand Blanc, MI., sister-in-law, Cynthia Lou Cook of Flint, Michigan; brother-in-law Robert Watters of Flint, MI., and nephew Robert Samuel Watters of Flint, MI.
Sammie graduated from Frankfort H.S. in 1968 and the Indiana School of Vocational Nursing in 1970. She worked at several medical facilities in Indiana, Florida, Oklahoma City and closed out her nursing career in Kingwood, TX. In 1997, Sammie was honored as the "Employee of the Year" by Kelsey-Seybold Clinic.
She competed in 4-H equestrian events and modeled for several agencies in Indianapolis. She became one of five finalists for Queen of the 1968 Indianapolis 500 and selected as "Miss Sigma Phi Kappa" in 1970. She participated in the 1970 Indiana Posture Queen Pageant and became first runner-up in the 1969 Miss Indianapolis/Miss World Beauty Pageant.
Sammie loved cooking, entertaining friends, Christmas decorating, attending family reunions, participating in church activities, fundraising, traveling, watching movies, and observing the sun set from the veranda. She will be remembered as a sweet, caring woman with a beautiful smile and loving character. Her gentle soul's departure was untimely and she will be dearly missed by many.
A memorial service was held at the Conroe Church of Christ located at 1860 Longmire Road, Conroe, TX. 77304 on Friday, November 14, 2014. If you desire you may make a donation in Sammie's name to the Conroe Church of Christ Service Fund.
