Bagwell, Mary (Tscheulin) 96 of Ft. Worth, TX, passed away on October 18, 2016. Mary Tscheulin Bagwell, nee Mary Agnes Tscheulin, was born on May 29, 1920 in New Albany, Indiana. She passed away peacefully on October 18, 2016 at the age of 96 in Fort Worth, Texas after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke. Mary met her husband-to-be, William Staley Bagwell, Jr. at Transylvania College in Kentucky while participating in an orchestral group directed by "Bill." After a classic and classy student/teacher romance, Bill and Mary married in June 1940 and were married for 69 years, until Bill's death on April 21, 2010. Mary graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor's Degree in Music on June 7, 1948. Mary's specialty was French horn and she continued playing her horn well into her 90s. Mary and Bill's life in music involved orchestras, chamber music groups, big bands, recitals and teaching. During World War II, Mary worked in the Boeing factory wiring the Mitchell B24 bombers to support the war effort. In her later years, after raising a family of four, Mary also worked as a librarian for the Phoenix school system. Bill and Mary started that family in 1945 with the birth of son John Francis Bagwell, while Bill was with the Navy in Hawaii. Mary and Bill lived in many places including Durham, North Carolina; New Albany, Indiana; Kansas City, Kansas; Minnesota for 8 years; Phoenix, Arizona for almost 50 years; and Fort Worth, Texas for 8 years. Mary loved many things besides her husband, music and her French horn. Above all she loved her family. Two of the family projects she loved, other than raising the family, were the building of a cabin in the woods of Green Mountain Falls in Colorado, and a house in Cave Creek, Arizona. She also loved her friends, extended family, the cabin in the Colorado woods, chocolate and her daily early morning walks of several miles. Mary was on one of those beloved walks, doing what she loved, when she collapsed. Mary is predeceased by her husband William Staley Bagwell, Jr., her brothers Fred Carl Tscheulin, Jr. and Earl Clarence Tscheulin, sister Esther Catherine Tscheulin and daughter Beatrice (Trissy) Ann Bagwell. Mary is survived by her youngest sister Beulah Anne Vernia, sister-in-law Esther Francis Mathews, son John Francis Bagwell, daughters Esta Ruth Bagwell and Leda Dawn Larson, grandson Nicholas Wayne Burak, granddaughter Jacqueline Beatrice Burak and many nieces and nephews. "Mom" will be missed by all. A private memorial was held in Midland, Texas on November 25, 2016. Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband and daughter at a gravesite gathering at 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Paradise Memorial Gardens, 9300 E. Shea Blvd in Scottsdale, AZ.
