Mary (Kevek) Buza Jones1926 - 2013Mary (Kevek) Buza Jones, an Anchorage, Alaska resident, passed away from natural causes on Aug. 8, 2013, at the Anchorage Pioneers Home. Mary was born on Dec. 13, 1926, in Cashton, Wis., to Mike and Olga (Nichporuk) Kevek. She lived most of her life in Alaska and loved it. She and her husband, Al, traveled to Alaska in 1956 from Gresham, Ore., with their three children. They started a successful business, Alaska Glass and Millwork, in 1958. Mary ran the front counter and did the accounting. Her greatest pleasure was the one-on-one contact with the customers. In 1967, they sold their business to Spenard Builders Supply. Al passed away at an early age of 42 in 1967.Shortly after Al passed away, Mary went to work as an office manager for Walt Jones Real Estate. In March of 1975, she and Walt were married and her family expanded with Walts son, Phil Jones; his daughter, Christyne Wyatt and their families. Mary and Walt pursued many successful real estate ventures. After they retired, they enjoyed spending summers in Alaska and winters in Hawaii. Mary enjoyed gardening, politics and was happiest spending time with her family and cooking. Holidays were a great source of joy to her because it brought her entire family together.Mary is survived by her daughter, Linda (Ed) Harter of Prescott, Ariz.; her sons, Mike (Paris) Buza of Anchorage, AK and Phil (Molly) Jones of Palm Desert, Calif.; a son-in-law, Dick Wyatt of San Diego, Calif.; and a sister, Irene Hannig of Clackamas, Ore. Her grandchildren include, Michael Harter, Carrie Peacock, Robin Buza, Susan Maunder, Mark Jones, Darlene Stolpe, Brian Wyatt and four great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Jones; her son, Richard Buza; a daughter, Christyne Wyatt and two brothers, Raymond and John Kevek.Funeral services will be held on Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at 4 p.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. Private entombment will be held in Elmwood Cemetery in River Grove, IL. A visitation will be held on Monday at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until the time of the service. A celebration of life will be held with her family following the service.Memorial remembrances may be made in her name to Hospice, which was one of Marys favorite charities.
