Hurdle, Mary E. JohnsonMary E. Johnson Hurdle passed away on March 15, 2017, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born on October 4, 1929, in Ironwood, Michigan, to Myrtle (Eddy) and Arthur H. Trezise. She is survived by her beloved husband of thirty years, Donald R. Hurdle, Winneconne, WI; children, Deborah (Steve) Viktora, Wilmette, IL; David (Michele) Johnson, Rockford, IL; Philip (Molly) Johnson, Winneconne, WI. She is further survived by grandchildren, Emily (Josiah) Hill, Paul (Libby) Johnson, Mark (fiancé Sara Gerold) Johnson, Stephanie (Matthew) Sebor, Beth (Shawn) Lucas, Philip T. Johnson; great-grandchildren, Lucy and Paige Johnson, Grace, Cleo, and Quinn Hill, Julia Sebor and Graham Lucas; brother, Robert (Joan) Trezise; and sister-in-law, Jo Pat (David) Dolsen. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Arthur H. Trezise, Jr.Mary graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood and received her RN degree from Wesley Memorial Hospital in Chicago. After her marriage to R. Pieratt Johnson, she dedicated herself to raising their children. Mary created a warm, nurturing, and loving home for her family, filled with fun, lively conversation and opportunities for her children, as well as a seemingly endless supply of chocolate chip cookies. Her home was a welcoming place for friends young and old. Mary was an active member of the Paxton, IL and Rockford, IL communities, serving as a school board member, volunteer, and community activist. She developed a talent for painting and enjoyed music and travel. Once her children were grown, Mary went back to school and earned a Master of Social Work degree at Loyola University in Chicago, after which she spent several years in private practice as a psychiatric social worker.After retirement, Mary and Don lived in Oostburg, Wisconsin before moving to Sun City Center, Florida. They returned to Wisconsin this fall, settling in Winneconne to be near all of their family. The last months of Mary's life were filled with visits from her children and their spouses, grandchildren, and her seven great-grandchildren, visits that were filled with laughter and love. Mary will be dearly missed by so many.A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, April 29, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. until Noon at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne.
