FELTON Mary E. (Bankert) Pleger, 70, formerly of Red Lion, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Jack R. Pleger. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock, with the Rev. Leon H. Denlinger officiating. Burial will be in Dallastown Union Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mary was born on September 4, 1943, in York, a daughter of the late Simon P. and Margaret E. (McCoy) Bankert. She graduated in 1961 from Dallastown High School and had worked as a Nurses Aid at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in 1970's. Mary also assisted Jeanne and John Harry as a caregiver for mentally and physically challenged persons, whom they cared for in their home for many years. She was also participating in the Senior Life of York Program. Mary is survived by a daughter, Trema F. Gordon-Spangler of Felton; a grandson, Niclous Cone of Felton; a sister, Martha J. Rahe of York; and a brother, Leslie P. McCoy of Ohio. She now joins her late sister, Deborah R. Bray. She also leaves the many children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, to whom she devoted most of her life helping to raise, including 17 members of the Harry Family, two members of the Sleeger Family, and one member of the Caswell Family.
