Mary Elizabeth LongestSan AngeloMary Mary Elizabeth Longest, age 84, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Mary was born on Jan. 26, 1933 in Hillsboro, Texas to Jasper and Zennie Dunn. Mary spent her childhood in Ballinger, Texas. She later moved to San Angelo and attended high school at Lake View where she graduated in 1953. On Jan. 9, 1955 she gave birth to her first son, Ronnie. In 1956 she married Bob Longest and continued building her family. She gave birth to her daughter, Laura on Oct. 8, 1957. She later gave birth to her youngest son, Robbie on Nov. 19, 1962. She began working for GTE in 1969 where she worked for 20 years before retiring.Mary enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, baking, working in her yard, dancing, music, hunting and fishing.She was preceded in death by her daughter, Laura Mathews; her ex-husband, Bob Longest; and her son, Ronnie Grubaugh.She is survived by her son Robbie Longest and wife Pam; grandchildren, Jerrika Hulseman and husband Josh, Lachelle Clark, Josh Ewell and wife Misty, Robert Longest, and Heather Guice; great-grandchildren, Jacy Hulseman, Dylan Hulseman, Sterling Clark, Leddy Clark, Jaxson Ewell, Aubrey Ewell, Aubyn Guice, Mary Britt, and Olivia Britt.Visitation was 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017 at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, 2017 at Johnson's Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will her three grandsons (Robert Longest, Josh Ewell, Josh Hulseman), Jeff O'Dell, James Lemley, Greg Smith, Tim Twombly. The family would like to give special thanks to the care staff at Brookdale for the exceptional care they gave.
