Mary Elizabeth Swatsky Mary Elizabeth Swatsky, 90, of Olympia, passed away peacefully at home on May 21, 2017. She was born on December 8, 1926 in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, to John and Sophie Grygorowicz. Mary lived a long and wonderful life! After graduating from J.W. Cooper High School in 1944, she worked for the F.B.I. as a fingerprint technician in Washington D.C. She also worked for the French government in New York City. Upon returning to Shenandoah, she met her husband, Anthony "Tony" Swatsky. They were married on June 15, 1947. After Tony was wounded in the Korean War, he was sent to Ft. Lewis Army Base. Mary joined him in Olympia where she began work at the Bureau of Criminal Identification. After the birth of her first son, Michael, she became a full-time homemaker and established their home in Olympia. Mary and Tony spent winters in Bermuda Dunes, California. An active golfer, Mary was a member of the Capitol City Golf Club and loved golfing with friends. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and going to the casino. She and Tony loved to travel, going to Hawaii, Mexico, and Arizona. Mary was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Lacey. Her warm smile will be missed by many. She is survived by her brother John Grygorowicz in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony (10 months to the day), and sons Michael, and Gerald "Jerry." Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lacey on June 1, 2017. The Rosary will start at 8:30 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 9:00 a.m. Graveside will be at 12:00 p.m. at Mills and Mills Cemetery in Tumwater.
