Mary Connelly, 84, a lifelong resident of the area, went to be with her Heavenly Father on the 12th of May 2017 at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center. Liz was born on January 20th, 1933 to Earl Van Winkle and Anna Louise Schueltz Van Winkle in Weed NM. She graduated from Weed High School. Liz loved to do gardening and yard work. She had a knack for being able to grow anything. Liz is survived by her daughter, Elesha Gentry (Wes) of Alamogordo; her son, Edward Connelly of Roswell NM; and brothers, Pete Van Winkle (Marian) of Alamogordo, Jake Van Winkle of Weed NM, Dan Ogden of La Luz; sister, Marge (Joel) Mitchell of Anchorage, AK. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Staesha Gentry, Sierra Gentry, Weston Gentry, Chad Connelly, Amber Ross and Travis Connelly as well as three great grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces. Liz is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer Frank Connelly; hers sisters, Eppie Van Winkle Cady and Barbara Van Winkle; and brother Earl "Pud" Van Winkle. A memorial service will take place at Hamilton- O'Dell Funeral Home Chapel on the May 19, 2017. Visitation is scheduled for 10:00 AM and services will be at 11:00 AM. Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home Chapel is located at 1334 North Scenic Drive, Alamogordo, New Mexico. Pallbearers are Stanton Cady, Bob Van Winkle, Gary Van Winkle, Craig Van Winkle, and Chance Van Winkle, Jimmy Van Winkle. The Connelly family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
