AUBURN — Mary L. Freed, 89, of Auburn, died Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. She was born on June 25, 1927 in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of the late Marriell and Leeta (Gill) Maier. She married Buddy Freed on March 15, 1947 in Angola, and he preceded her in death on June 26, 1981. Mary Lou was active in RSVP and Community Harvest Food Bank for many years and enjoyed her many trips with S & S Travel. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Ty Dirr of Auburn; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Karen Freed of Auburn and Jeffrey and Janie Freed of Albion; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Donald Maier of Fort Wayne and James and Janet Maier of Madison, Florida; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Lutz, and a brother, Kenneth K. Maier. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Pinnington Funeral & Cremation Services, 502 N. Main Street, Auburn. Visitation will be held Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Fairfield Center Cemetery, Corunna.
