Miss Mary Jane Davis, affectionately known as Miss Mae, passed away on June 6, 2021, at the ripe old age of 95. She was born on May 26, 1926, and made quite the impression during her time on this earth.
Miss Mae was a force to be reckoned with, and her love of life was infectious. She was married to John Davis, who was often seen running in the opposite direction when she got that mischievous twinkle in her eye. Together they had one child, Phobie Davis, who were the lucky recipients of Miss Mae's unique brand of parenting.
Miss Mae was a hard-working woman who spent many years at the Polk County School Board. Her colleagues remember her fondly for always having a kind word and her seemingly endless supply of good laughs and life lessons. When she wasn't at work, Miss Mae could often be found volunteering for the St Mary Primitive Baptist Church in the kitchen with her crew. She was a pillar of the community, and her absence will be sorely felt. Her later years were spent in Buffalo NY with here child grand children Victor Johnson, and John-Henry Grant. And great grandchildren Victor Johnson-Smothers, Victoria Smother-Johnson.
Miss Mae's passing has left a void in the lives of all who knew her. However, we are comforted by the knowledge that she lived her life to the fullest and left behind a legacy that will be celebrated for years to come. Rest in peace, Miss Mae, and know that you will be dearly missed.
