MARY JANE E. ROSKAM, 91 BAILEYVILLE - Mary Jane E. Roskam, 91, formerly of Baileyville, a much loved mother, grandmother, and Oma, died, Wednesday June 19, 2013, at Fairhaven Retirement Center in Rockford. Mary Jane was born on October 23, 1921, in Goshen, Indiana, the daughter of Paul and Erma (Nickler) Middleton. On September 20, 1941, Mary Jane married Merrill W. Roskam in St. Joseph, Missouri. Mr. Roskam died on August 14, 1999. Mary Jane worked at the post office in Baileyville and at Stover Steel in Freeport. She was a member of Baileyville Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and was active in Kings Daughter. Mary Jane was also a 4-H leader. She enjoyed sewing, spending time with her family and always living life to the fullest. She is survived by her son, Mervin (Sue) Roskam of Birmingham, Alabama; daughters, Julia (Gary) Johnson of Pecatonica, and Deborah (Randy) Trei of Rockford. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister; and one great-grandson, Ben Johnson. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 24, at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Pastor Verlyn Swanson and Matthew Roskam will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at Burke Tubbs. Burial will take place in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
