HANOVER Mary Jane (Bankert) Stengle, 80, died Friday, March 13, 2015, at her home. She was the wife of John E. Stengle, with whom she celebrated their 7th wedding anniversary on September 1, 2014, and the late Maynard M. Howe. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at Hanover First Church of God, 600 Fairview Drive, Hanover, with Pastor Jerry Shoap and Pastor Dan Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in York Road Cemetery, Hanover. Viewings will be held for 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Mrs. Stengle was born on August 2, 1934, in Hanover, a daughter of the late Ralph and Bertha E. (Wildasin) Bankert. She was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Brethren Home Community at Cross Keys for over 14 years, retiring in 2001. She was member of the Hanover First Church of God, where she served as a greeter, assisted in other activities at the church, and was a member of the Senior Luncheon Group of the church. She also went on many missionary trips to Canada, Venezuela, and Mexico. In addition to her husband, she leaves daughters, Faye E. Small and her husband, Ronald of Hanover, Jane E. Casale and her husband, Brian of Hanover, Jeanette M. Starner and her husband, Jeff of Manchester, and Joan E. Reichart and her husband, Carl of Hanover; grandchildren, Leslie R. Torres, Amanda Howe, Drew H. Casale, Heather R. Hostler, Courtney P. Myers, and Neil J. Reichart; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Loretta Shaffer of Hanover. She was also predeceased by a son, Benjamin R. "Ben" Howe; two sisters, Florine and Arlene; four brothers, Burnell, Laverne, Ivan, and Earl; and her second husband, Edwin Eline.
