Mary Julia Sanchez, 90, a resident of Las Vegas passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013 at her home in Las Vegas surrounded by family.She was born on June 15, 1923 in Cañoncito to the late Juan C. Martinez and Faustina Sanchez-Martinez.She was an avid bingo player, a member of The Sacred Heart of Jesus and loved to watch her novelas. She was always recommending her remedios.A lifelong Catholic, she was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose L. Sanchez; all her brothers and sister, Gabriel, Alfredo, Chano, Antonio and Seferino Martinez, Regina Trujillo; and grandson, James Romero.She is survived by her daughters and son, Maria Anna Paez and husband, Silberio, of Albuquerque, Raymond Roy Sanchez of Las Vegas, Rose Lee Romero and husband, Ricky, of Las Vegas; sister-in-law, Irene Martinez of Colorado; grandchildren, Annette Paez of Albuquerque, Bryon Paez and wife, Sharon, of Washington, D.C., Ted Paez and wife, Tandy, of Albuquerque, Jonathon Romero and Veronica Salazar of Rio Rancho, Josette and Eddie Elwell of Albuquerque, Joyce Romero of Las Vegas; seven great-grandchildren, Alexa, Alyssa, Michayla, Cheyenne, Carlos, Hailey and Sebastian; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.Rosary services were held at 8 p.m. Sunday at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. today (Monday) also at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas with Father Anthony Bolman as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Las Vegas with the following serving as casket bearers: Ricky Romero, Jonathon Romero, Eddie Elwell, Ted Paez, Ignacio Trujillo and Steve Romero.
