Mary K. "Hoagy Carmichael" SauerCANAL WINCHESTER: Mary K. "Hoagy Carmichael" Sauer, age 81, of Canal Winchester, died Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Winchester Place. She was born on February 18, 1935 in Columbus to the late James and Florine Carmichael. Mary was a member of St. John XXIII Catholic Church. She sold real estate for Gaston Reality, and also worked as Assistant Wardrobe Mistress for Opera Columbus. She was a past president of Right - to -Life, Columbus Chapter and a member of the Fairfield County Herb Society. Mary enjoyed time spent with the ladies in their card club for over 50 years; she also was a world traveler. She is preceded in death by husband, James "Jim" J. Sauer; brother, James "Jimmy" Carmichael; great-grandchild, "Bentley Bear" Young. Mary is survived by her daughter, Mary "Kathy" (Randy) Young; grandchildren, Erika (Brian) Kellett, James "Jimmy" (Beth) Young, Michael "Mike" (Nicole) Young; great-grandchildren, Austin "Big Guy" Eubanks, Connor Young, Joshua "Josh" Young, James Randall Young, Matthew and Madison Kellett, Payton and Lucas Hicks; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Family and friends may visit from 4-7:00 pm on Monday, February 13 at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 650 W. Waterloo St., Canal Winchester, OH 43110 with a vigil service at 6:45 pm. A funeral mass, officiated by Fr. Denis Kigozi, will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, February 14 at St. John XXIII Catholic Church, 5170 Winchester Southern Rd., Canal Winchester, OH 43110 with an hour prior visitation. Inurnment will take place on a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery.
