Mary Lou Walsh, of Elgin, formerly of Berwyn, was born on September 14, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois to Thomas and Lucille (nee Alford) Walsh. She died Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Northwest Community Hospital - JourneyCare Hospice in Arlington Heights, Illinois. Mary Lou had a fearless, feisty spirit, a unique sense of humor, and a heart of gold. She was an excellent baker and could always be counted upon to show up at family parties with trays full of assorted cookies or beautifully decorated cakes. She was interested in genealogy and was considered the family historian. Mary Lou is survived by her brother, Thomas (Janet Kenny) Walsh, her nieces and nephews, Toni (Douglas) McKirahan, Michael (The late Kathy) Walsh, Mary Ann (John) Castonguay, Jeanine Walsh, Kathleen Walsh, Michael (Kris) Walsh, Jr., Kimberly Walsh, Patrick (Andrea) Walsh, Deborah (Michael) Dodgen, Steven Walsh; many grand nieces and nephews; many great-grand nieces and nephews, Mary Lou will also be remembered by her lifelong friends, Theresa (Dave) Morris and Pat (John) Romancik. She was preceded in death by her brother, Michael (the late Rosemary) Walsh, Sr., nephew, Thomas Walsh, nephew, James Walsh, grand nephew David Walsh, sister in law, Olga Walsh and her parents. Visitation from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road (4 blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights, Illinois.
