Mary Louise Price CarawayA private family memorial service honoring the life of Mary Louise Price Caraway will be held Saturday, August 5, at Cooper Chapel of the Glen Retirement System. Officiating will be Dr. Carl E. Rhoads. Mary died on Sunday, July 31, following a brief illness. The second of the five children of Frank M. Price and Opal Mamie Goss Price, she was born on October 28, 1924, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Her father's work eventually took the family to Harlingen, Texas where she met and married Porter M. Caraway, Jr., the son of the Methodist minister at her family's church.Later, Mary and Porter moved to Shreveport where he began working for the KCS Railroad. It was here that they settled and raised their two sons. Mary was employed for many years as the Office Manager at Custom Built Cabinets and Supply. After retiring from that position, she worked with her son and husband at Caraway Travel, Inc. Her excellent organizational skills made her an asset to both of these businesses.Mary was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church for 60 years.Mary was a supportive and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought her great joy, and she cherished the times she spent with each of them. She was diligent about remembering every child's birthday, even when she was in her 90's, and their notes and cards produced big smiles. Left to cherish "Meme's" memory are her brother, Frank M. Price, Jr.; her sons and daughters-in-law, Pat (Carol Anne) and Frank (Mona); her grandchildren, Patrick Caraway (Leslie), Laura Akers (Jason), Ben Caraway (Claire), Jeremy Caraway (Kelly), Jonathan Caraway (Natalie), and Matthew Caraway (Brittni); and her special loves, her great-grandchildren, Alexis and Jess Akers, Emma, Gordon, and Porter Caraway, Jacob and Evie Caraway, and Anna and Nathan Caraway.The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the nurses and staff of the Magnolia Household of the Glen for their love and care during Mary's stay there, especially Dino, Sally, and Katrina.The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made to the Glen Retirement System, 403 E.
