Mary MatlockKnoxville, TNMary Elizabeth Wallace Matlock, 85, of Knoxville, TN passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2015. She was born on March 25, 1930 in Knoxville, TN to Mr. and Mrs. Steve S. Wallace. Sr. She was a proud graduate of Knoxville Catholic High School ('48) and a lifetime member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Mary Elizabeth and James A. Matlock were married at Holy Ghost Catholic Church on August 18, 1951. She retired from Halls High School in 1995 after 15 years and enjoying many happy friendships. In retirement, Mrs. Matlock enjoyed volunteer work at Holy Ghost Church, and was an avid bowler. Mrs. Matlock is preceded in death by her loving husband James A. Matlock, Sr.; her parents; siblings: Steve S. Wallace (Joyce); Marvin Wallace (Maxine), Helen Wallace Johnson (Clarence Johnson), James J. Wallace; and son James A. Matlock, Jr. She is survived by sons: Ernest S. Matlock (Debora), John E. Matlock, Charles W. Matlock (Karen), Joseph A. Matlock (Tara); daughters: Elizabeth C. Matlock, Robin Matlock Kimbrough (Graham); loving grandchildren: Whitney Matlock Bergeron (Jonathan), Dashiel Matlock, Hadley Matlock, Wendy Glass, Ashley Dummitt (Scott); great grandchildren: Jameson Bergeron, Macey Norris, Parker Dummitt along with numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Matlock is also survived by her brother Alfred B. (Bogie) Wallace and wife Jody; sister-in-law Mrs. Carol Wallace, widow of James J. Wallace; and daughter-in-law Mrs. Elizabeth S. (Monger) Matlock, widow of James A., Matlock, Jr. Special thanks to Amedisys Hospice Care including nurses Jennifer Singleton and Becky Goss. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church with Father John Arthur Orr officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Monday, October 19, 2015, at Rose Mortuary on Broadway. A Rosary Prayer service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel.
