Mary Morgan NemeyerAge: 91 • Waynesboro, VAMary Carmen Morgan Nemeyer, of Waynesboro, died peacefully on Thursday, April 27, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born on December 25, 1925 in Potsdam, NY, daughter of James and Grace (Halpin) Morgan. In addition to her parents and her husband, Donald Nemeyer, she was predeceased by three sisters, Virginia Gilligan, Eleanor Hannan and Charlotte LaMar; two brothers, Frank Morgan and John (Jack) Morgan; and son-in-law, Timothy McDow. Mary grew up on the family farm in Potsdam, later working as a telephone operator during WWII before marrying her husband, Don, of sixty years. Don's career took them to several states, where she enjoyed being a mother and a homemaker. She excelled at all she attempted, whether learning a new sport, decorating her home, or making new friends. She loved her family, remained fervent in her prayer life, and accepted every challenge life presented with grace. She was always grateful for each act of kindness, small or large. Mary is survived by daughter Bobby-Anne Wood and her husband, Larry, of Waynesboro; son John Nemeyer and his wife, June, of Washington, DC; daughter Mary "Liz" McDow, of Waynesboro; son Mike Nemeyer and his wife, Anne, of Earlysville; and sister Anne Hesler, of Liverpool, NY. In addition, she leaves ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary loved life to the fullest, especially enjoying her annual winter trips to Florida, playing golf and cards, and keeping up with world events. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with family members and friends who enjoyed her quick wit, engaging nature and infectious laugh. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Mary was a faithful member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where a Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated by Rev. Rolo Castillo on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 11:00AM. A reception will follow in the church social hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, St. John the Evangelist's Building Fund, or the .
