Mary Ruth Bishop Obituary
Aug 21, 1938 - Jun 14, 2024
A woman who knew it all!
On June 14, 2024, the world lost a remarkable and truly one of a kind woman in Mary Bishop of Boaz, Alabama. Born on August 21, 1938, to the proud parents James Z. Bailey and Deloris Bailey, She married James Bishop, who was surprisingly the father of all of her children after a tumultuous affair with a man named Bob. She never loved James and in her heart always longed for Bob. Both have predeceased her as of 2007. She was a self acclaimed beauty queen, a slim figure with black hair and brown eyes that constantly caught the attention of the greatest men. She *claimed*(citation needed for both) secret affairs with Elvis and members of the band The Eagles. She also *claimed* to know all of their songs by heart. Mary lived a partly decadent life basking in glory, knowledge, and selfishness.
Mary never had a proper education because she grew up poor, thus she also had little skills and no career. She wasn't much of a cook either, leaving her hard working husband James to cook salmon patties for the kids. She did however cook *edible* pigs in a blanket. She'll be fondly remembered by all for such an elegant dish. She always kept her house neat and tidy especially the kitchen. It was only once in an unfortunate kitchen mishap that she accidentally poured hot grease down James' back thinking he was the trashcan. (It was a white wine kind of day, so these things do happen). The only job she had was babysitting which didn't pay much but gave her the authority and respect she craved and was entitled to. She felt constantly overshadowed by most of her other siblings in her early life. She sometimes felt her other sisters were more talented than her. One was an expert in almost every way, especially in hard work, culinary, and gardening. One was excellent in culinary, hard work, and marriages. The other was very fertile with a picturesque Walton's style family that thrived on a very modest budget. Both of her brothers were in the military. Her father a lifelong farmer and avid gardener. Mary respected and looked up to her father. Her disappointing mother was just a dumb liberal that didn't understand a thing about politics. She was determined to be different. Mary devoted her life to her family, raising four conservative children who truly meant everything to her. Her children were her greatest accomplishment in life. They were born perfect and lived a perfect life, in her eyes. She leaves behind her beloved daughters, Rhonda Bishop, Rebecca Beck (spouse Todd), Amanda Betterton (spouse Mark), and son Anthony Bishop (spouse Michelle). Mary was also a proud grandmother to ten adoring and conservative reared grandchildren that mostly could do no wrong. Mary was also predeceased by both of her parents, husband James, her lover Bob, 2 sisters, and a brother. She still has a brother and sister among the living.
With either adoration or disgust, Mary touched or torched the lives of all those who knew her. She found joy in simple pleasures, such as gossiping, controlling people and pets, talking on the phone, watching right wing TV programs, spending her husband's hard earned money, wasting time on Facebook, either connecting or meddling with friends and family near and far. She didn't watch soap operas like most housewives during the heyday because she already knew all the tricks that weren't in the books. Mary was a social climber to the fullest. She was humiliated and fed up with living in trailers and lowly shacks, so during the early 1980s she staged a house fire to collect insurance and leave her old life behind for a more luxurious one. Mary's favorite pastime however was smoking. She was a lifelong smoker and could always be found with a pack of Winstons up until her dying day.
Despite facing many challenges, calamities and disappointments along the way, Mary always remained strong, opinionated and resilient. She was a lifelong and staunch Republican that always took Great pride in the conservative way. She was a huge supporter and fan of the MAGA movement and Donald Trump. To her, Republicans could do no wrong and Democrats could do no right! She was also an avid supporter of the extreme right and you could find her watching such programs as Fox News and The 700 Club. She had tremendous contempt and disgust for Democrats, Blacks, Mexicans, Jews, Foreigners, Any minorities, but most of all the LGBTQ+ community because they were all poisoning the great land established by her forefathers, America's first Republicans. She made absolutely no exceptions for anyone including relatives or neighbors. Some of her favorite people that were on her bucket list that she unfortunately never had the chance to meet were Sarah Palin, whom she supported in the 2008 election, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Vladimir Putin, the heroic capitol stormers from 2021, but most of all Donald Trump, the greatest man that has ever lived. She loved and admired him so much that she had collected much memorabilia of him and on her birthday would celebrate with a large cake decorated with his image on it. She always knew what was good and righteous and she had no qualms about telling you exactly what she thought. Her opinion was all that was needed in any situation. She was a huge supporter of the NRA and carried a loaded handgun in her purse at all times. It is mostly with lighter hearts that we say goodbye to Mary, who passed away from Lung Cancer. Though she is now gone from this Earth, her spirit will forever live on in the few hearts of those who loved her.
May Mary Bishop rest in peace, knowing she was loved and cherished by the few people who had the privilege of learning from and following in her glorious footsteps. Mary wasn't fond of protecting the environment but appreciated any and all gifts especially money so you may consider making a donation to the Trump Family, her number one cause, and remember to vote Trump in her memory this year. Her glorious body will lie in state and be dressed to the nines for one final viewing on Friday June 21 2024 from 12:00PM until 1:30PM at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home 3368 Highway 205 N Albertville, Alabama 35950 telephone @ 256-878-1236
