Mary Susan GoodwinMary Susan (Sue) Goodwin, 88, of Fort Collins, Colorado passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2016. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Fort Collins. A reception will follow at C.B. & Potts at the Collindale location. Interment will be held at the Fort Logan National Cemetery on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at 1:00 p.m.Mary Susan (Sue) Riggs was born on January 11, 1928 in Crawfordsville, Indiana; the daughter of Eldon Bennet and Margaret Mary (Vaughan) Riggs. She grew up in Crawfordsville and graduated from Crawfordsville High School. She left her home town to attend Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Illinois, graduating in 1949 with a B.A. in Economics. She then moved to Chicago to begin her career in business. Susan met William (Bill) Goodwin, an Army Captain serving as an ROTC instructor at
Purdue University, in West Lafayette, Indiana; they were married in Crawfordsville, Indiana on May 29, 1954. Susan left Chicago to begin her new life as a military spouse, raised a family of four children, while traveling the world with duty assignments, and homes in California, Texas, Kansas, Virginia, Germany, Thailand, Taiwan, and finally, South Carolina. After leaving the Army, Susan and Bill moved to Colorado, first to Evergreen, finally settling, and then retiring in Fort Collins. Susan took up golf and enjoyed travel, family, grandchildren, and her Lhasa Apso dogs. She was an avid follower of the CSU Rams, missing very few home games. Susan Goodwin is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Inez Enyart, her brother, Robert Riggs, and her husband of 52 years, Col (Ret) William H. Goodwin. She is survived by her sons, Stephen Goodwin and wife Lorraine Burns of Falls Church, VA, Peter Goodwin and wife Lynne of Los Alamos, NM, Philip Goodwin and wife Suzie of Granite Bay, CA, and daughter, Karen Sipes of Fort Collins, CO.
