GLEN ROCK Mary V. (Grimm) Smith, 88, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at the Haven at Springwood, York. She was the wife of the late Leonard Udell Smith, whom she missed very much and with whom she shared and enjoyed 61 years of marriage until his passing in 2008. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19. 2014 at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock, with Pastor Thomas Beck and Pastor Kerry Gingerich officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem 'Steltz' Church Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mrs. Smith was born on May 9, 1925, in Maryland, a daughter of the late George D. and Mary E. (Ryan) Grimm. She retired from AMP, Inc. after 10 years of employment, and, prior to that, had been employed at the former American Insulator Corp, New Freedom for over 33 years. She also was a member of St. Peter's Church, Seven Valleys. She enjoyed spending as much time as she could with her daughter, grandsons and their families and with her great-granddaughter. She was known by many people for her jolly personality and her sense of humor. Mary is survived by her daughter, Kathy D. Somerville and her husband, Dennis of Seven Valleys; two grandsons, Bryan Somerville and his wife Betsy and Jordan Somerville and his wife Keri; a great-granddaughter, Jillian; three sisters, Bessie Kiser, Rosalie Martin, and Martha Nevius; a brother, Jake Grimm; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Fishel; and four brothers, Dick, George, Buck, and Tom Grimm. Her daughter extends her heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff on 5 Main at the York Hospital for the excellent care and compassion shown to her and her family.
