Mary Joyce (Babione) Veccia passed away as the sun rose Friday morning, December 16, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. She spent all the days of her life, especially her final days, surrounded in love and prayer by her family. Our sweet Mary left peacefully in the arms of the angels. She was 58 years old. Mary was the third of seven children born to her parents, Robert J. and Helen Babione. She was born on May 23, 1958. She always said she had the happiest childhood anyone could ever hope for. Friends and family will tell you that she began her life of charity as a young child. She humbly and modestly filled this world with countless acts of service. Mary graduated from St. Joan of Arc Catholic School before entering Boca Raton High School. While in high school, she met the love of her life, Joseph W. Veccia, Jr. They were married on June 25, 1976, exactly one week after graduating high school. They shared over 40 years together, celebrating their countless blessings, and holding hands through the tough moments of life. Both Joe and Mary attended Lynn University and graduated with degrees in Mortuary Science. They purchased Mary's family business, Babione Funeral Home in 1988. Mary served on countless committees, and she enriched the community that she called home. Mary was a caring, compassionate, and loyal person. Her greatest joy came from raising her children and from the special bond that she built with her grandchildren. She loved to plan parties and vacations for her family and friends. She enriched their lives by planning all of the details of their special celebrations and adventurous vacations. She also cherished the simplest moments of life, having tea parties and baking cookies with her grandchildren. Her passing has left a huge hole in the hearts of her family and many friends. Mary is survived by her devoted husband Joseph; son Brian (Jaime) Veccia; daughters Tiffany (Don) FitzHenry and Kimberly (Nick) Amsalem; grandchildren Aiden and Abigail Veccia, Kade and Quinn FitzHenry, and Amelia, Bruno, and Clara Amsalem; her mother, Helen Babione; her siblings Kathy (Mark) Rogers, Phyllis Haggerty, Ashley Babione, Robert (Sue) Babione Jr., Paul Babione, and Jean Babione. Mary's love extended to her cousin's son Richard who she spent several years helping to raise and to many nieces and nephews, cousins, her mother-in-law and her dear sisters and brothers-in-law. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 3-8pm at Babione-Kraeer Funeral Home (East Chapel 561-395-8787). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Monday, December 19, 2016 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church with entombment to follow at The Boca Mausoleum. Her family is deeply saddened for their loss, but rejoices that she is reunited with her dad in Heaven as they celebrate eternal life with our Lord.
