Zellmer, Mary GREENVILLE Mary M. Zellmer, 84, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 28, 2017. She was born on May 17, 1932, in New Haven, Conn. to the late Russell and Katherine Blatchley McDermott. Mary was a 1954 graduate of St. Vincent's School of Nursing. She worked at Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie and most recently at Hospice Care of Cape Cod, Mass. Mary was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Rosary Society. She was an active member of the Greenville Quilting Club and the Greenville Book Club. She was the TV show "Blue Bloods" #1 fan and also enjoyed watching EWTN. Mary was very proud to have been the mother of ten children. In addition to her parents, Mary is predeceased by her son, Daniel VanWagenen; son-in-law Mark Carlson; and step-daughter, Ruth Franke. Mary is survived by her husband, Henry G. "Harry" Zellmer, who she married on January 2, 1988; her children, William (Linda) VanWagenen, Mary (Tim) Carey, Ruth VanWagenen, Helen (Jim) Castle, Joseph VanWagenen, Kurt (Roxanna) VanWagenen, Sarah Carlson, Paul (Mette) VanWagenen, and Nancy Tillinghast; her step-children, Harry (Barbara) Zellmer, John (Carol) Zellmer, George (Joan) Zellmer, and Elizabeth Zellmer; her 29 grandchildren; her 15 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Theresa (Allan) McAlpine, Barbara Moore, Suzanne Tabine, and Frances Miraglia; and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 4987 State Route 81, Greenville, NY, followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
