SALEM - MaryAnn Barbara Trakas, age 74, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday February 17th, 2016 at Grande Prairie Health and Rehabilitation in Pleasant Prairie. MaryAnn was born on the Fourth of July in 1941 to Bernard and Anna (Szacik) Stremplewski in Chicago. In 1973, she moved to Wisconsin and raised her three children there. She worked for many years, retiring from Quill Corporation in 2004. MaryAnn was a wonderful mother. She loved sewing, quilting, and planting flowers. She loved to listen to music and enjoyed Broadway show tunes and opera. MaryAnn was also an avid Chicago Cubs and Black Hawks fan. Mostly she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who all adored her. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her siblings Bernadine Henriksen, Phillip (Ruth) Stremplewski and Joseph (Barbara) Stremplewski and her children Nicholas Trakas, Cynthia (Tom Reimer) Borst and Kimberly (Philip Lois) Trakas-Lois. She is further survived by her loving grandchildren Jessica (Jemaris Johnson) Kurth, HeatherAnne (Joseph) Caruso, Brianna Kurth and Mark Trakas and her six great grandchildren. MaryAnn was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Bernard Stremplewski, Robert Stremplewski and Helen Knopp and by her beloved friend Oscar the Chocolate Labrador. A Mass of Christian Burial for MaryAnn will take place on Friday February 26th, 2016 at 11:00AM at St. Alphonsus Parish (6301-344th Avenue New Munster, WI 53152.)
