Marylee Olmsted 1949 - 2016HERKIMER - Marylee J. Olmsted, age 67, passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, November 2, 2016, in Saint Elizabeth's Medical Center. She had the comfort of her loving family by her side.She was born on October 13, 1949, daughter of Lester T. and Beverly C. Crego Olmsted. Marylee was raised in Richfield Springs and was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School. She furthered her education, graduating from Morrisville College with a Licensed Practical Nursing degree. Upon graduation from college, she went to work for Saint Elizabeth's Hospital in Utica. It was, at that time, she decided to return to Morrisville College and become a Registered Nurse. She worked in various area hospitals and nursing homes, including five years at the Presbyterian Home in New Hartford, where she retired in 2013. Marylee had a strong faith in God and led a devoted Christian life. To those who knew her, she was a loving, caring and helpful person. She was always doing for others while looking for nothing in return. She will be sadly missed.She is survived by her beloved parents, Lester T. and Beverly C. Olmsted, of Richfield Springs; a sister, Brenda Petty, of Woodgate, NY; one niece, Elizabeth C. Cardenas and her husband, Darren, of North Billerica, MA; one nephew, Michael Petty, of Nashville, TN; a grandniece, Tabitha Cardenas; cousin, David Hunt; aunt, Shirley Casler; uncle, Walter Olmsted; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Thomas Petty, in June of 2015.Calling hours for Ms. Olmsted will be on Wednesday, November 9th, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. Funeral service will follow immediately after at 12:00 noon in the funeral home. The Reverend Wayne Clemens will officiate.The family wishes to express a special thank you to Laura Hailston, Carol DePalma, David Hunt, Brenda Abrams, and Don and Melanie Bruce for all the care and concern that they showed to Marylee and her family during a very difficult time.
