Matilda Katherine Haneke1928 - 2016December 14, 2016. Lakeview Funeral Home. Matilda Katherine Haneke, 88, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2016, in Sandpoint, Idaho to join her heavenly father in heaven. Services will be held this Spring at Good Hope Lutheran Church, in Gifford, Idaho. Matilda was born on September 24, 1928 in Gifford, Idaho to Henry and Emma Stolte. She graduated from Gifford High School and then attended Lewiston Business College. Matilda worked for Bell Telephone in Lewiston, where she met her husband Delwin. Matilda married Delwin Haneke on November 1, 1954 at the Good Hope Lutheran Church in Gifford. They made their home in Eugene, OR from 1964-2002. She loved children and worked at a day care. From 2002-2014, Matilda lived with her two children Larry Haneke in Oakridge, OR and Linda Larion (Rick), in North Bend, WA. In 2014 she moved into The Bridge Assisted Living in Sandpoint. She was a member of the Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and teaching Sunday school. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking and traveling. But, she especially loved being with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her three children: Larry Haneke of Oakridge, OR; Susan (Ivan) Mombert of Eugene, OR; and Linda (Rick) Larion of Sandpoint, ID; four grandchildren: Ben Mombert, Greg (Kristen) Mombert of Portland, OR; Alisha (Chris) Farris of Coeur d'Alene, ID; and Aubrey Larion of Tacoma, WA; brother, Walter (Dorothy) Stolte of Rio Rancho, NM; and two sisters: Ella Meuller of Gresham, OR; and Henrietta (Richard) Brooks of Oregon City, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers: Gerhart and Alfred Stolte; and sister, Martha Lewis.
