HOWE — Mattea Hope Holton, age 17, of Howe, Indiana, died Sunday, March 13, 2016, in a car accident in Howe, Indiana. She was born on July 31, 1998, in LaGrange, Indiana, to Toney and Kathleen Holton. She was a junior at Lakeland High School and was on the high honor roll, was a 21st Century Scholar, a member and acting attorney of the Teen Court program, an a member of LIFE. Mattea created a peer coaching program that would mentor at-risk kids in alternative programs. She applied for and received a grant to support the funding of her group. She was also on the softball team. She was a member of the Howe United Methodist Church. She played the piano, loved art and her cat, Gio. She is survived by her father and stepmother, Toney and Beverly Holton of Vandalia, Michigan; her mother, Kathleen Holton of Howe, Indiana; three sisters, Morgan and Justin Thompson of Wolcottville, Indiana, Tammy and Robert McDonald Jr. of Jones, Michigan, and Amanda and Michael Albright of Elkhart, Indiana. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jessica Renee Holton on April 15, 1992. Viewing will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2016, from 4-7 p.m. at the LaGrange Church of God, LaGrange, Indiana. The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016, at 10 a.m. at the church with the Pastor Jean Ness of the Howe United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
