Matthew Sean Barnes of Lansing died on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pa. He was 13.
Mr. Barnes was born on March 11, 2000, in Ashe County to Scottie Barnes and Katrina Ketner Brock.
Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Jim Ketner and maternal great grandmother, Gincy Weaver. He enjoyed trains, farming, hunting and four-wheeling, working on the computer, and playing the x-box. He was a member of Warrensville Baptist Church.
Mr. Barnes is survived by his father, Scottie Barnes of Lansing; mother, Katrina Ketner Brock of Weaverville; brother, Jacob Ketner of San Diego, Calif.; brother, Zachary Brock of Weaverville; paternal grandmother, Linda Ham of Lansing; paternal grandfather, Jack Testerman of Lansing; maternal grandmother, Sylvia Ketner of West Jefferson; and several aunts uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Russell Sheets and Rev. Wayne Osborne. Entombment will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum of Prayer.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.

The family will be meeting at the home of his grandparents, Linda and Jack, 106 Graham School Lane in Lansing.
