Salvesen, MatthewMatthew R. Salvesen, 37, of Hatley died unexpectedly on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at his home.He was born on November 18, 1979 in Wausau. The son of the late Robert Salvesen and Mary Gene (Mazzon) Salvesen of Aniwa.Matt graduated from Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School in 1998. He then attended Kishwaukee College in Illinois. Matt was drafted by the Chicago White Sox. He then attended UW Stevens Point where he received his bachelors degree.On October 9, 2004, Matt was united in marriage to Rebecca Bushman at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church in Bevent. She survives.Matt was a manager at Harvest Moon, Galloway for the past 12 years. Family was very important to him, he especially enjoyed the time spent with his children. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at his cabin in Bruce Crossing, MI. Matt played softball for Chet & Emil's and formerly played on the Aniwa BABA for many years. He was currently coaching kid's baseball and loved seeing the progress each child made. Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Salvesen; four children, Ian, Rory, Milo and Monty; mother, Mary Gene Salvesen; one sister, Erin Salvesen of MN; mother and father-in-law, Jon and Sandy Bushman of Galloway; sister and brother-in-law, Amanda (Jack) Nowinsky and John (Amy) Bushman; two nieces, six nephews and many other relatives and friends.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 25, 2017 at St. Florian Catholic Church, Hatley. Fr. Greg Bohren will officiate. Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00-8:00 PM and again on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass, all at the church.Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
