It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mattie Johnson, who peacefully left this world on November 2, 2023, in her hometown of Jersey City, New Jersey, USA. Born on August 29, 1953, Mattie brought joy and laughter to all who knew her.

Mattie was a ray of sunshine who brightened even the cloudiest days. She was the daughter of Matthew and Geraldine Hedgemen, and she shared a deep and loving bond with her parents. In the year 40, she embarked on a beautiful journey of love and companionship with her beloved spouse, Willie T. Johnson.

Together, Mattie and Willie were blessed with the joys of parenthood. Their two children, Quiyma Jackson and Arkeria Thomas, brought immeasurable happiness into their lives. Mattie adored her children and nurtured them with unwavering love and support, always encouraging them to chase their dreams.

Mattie was also blessed with the joy of being a grandmother to nine grandchildren. These little bundles of joy were a constant source of delight for her, and she cherished spending time with them, showering them with love and wisdom.

During her time at the United States Postal Service, Mattie served her community with dedication and warmth. Her incredibly friendly nature and bright smile made her a beloved figure among her coworkers and customers alike.

Though we are heartbroken by her sudden departure, we find comfort in the memories we shared with Mattie. She had a zest for life that was infectious, and her laughter was music to our ears. She had an uncanny ability to find joy in the simplest of things, reminding us all of life's beautiful moments.
