Mattie Haywood-Chapman, born on August 21, 1929, in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2026. A cherished Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Aunt and more! A vibrant member of her community, Mattie embodied grace and kindness throughout her life.

Growing up in New Orleans, Mattie developed a deep love for the vibrant culture and traditions of her city. She was known for her warm smile and welcoming nature, bringing joy to those around her. A devoted family member and friend, she nurtured relationships and created countless cherished memories.

Mattie is proceeded in death by her loving children whom have all gone home to Glory and now resting together. She is survived in love by her Siblings, many loving grandchildren, nieces & nephews and numerous friends who will remember her for her strength, unwavering spirit and generous heart. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and community service that will continue to inspire those who knew her.

Her family invites all who knew Mattie to celebrate her life and the profound impact she had on so many. A memorial service will be held in her honor, where her contributions and memory will be cherished and remembered.
