On Friday March 3, 2023, Maude Evelyn Tillman departed this earthly life and went home to be with the Lord. She was born in Caroline County, Virginia, on May 18, 1925, to the late Lewis L. Tillman and Marjorie Tillman. She grew up in Dawn, Virginia and attended Dawn #4 School.
Maude joined Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church at an early age and attended faithfully until her health began to fail. Throughout the years, she was a member of the Victoria Memorial Choir, the Missionary Club, the Little Light Society, and the Hospitality Committee for many years. She also served as a member of The King David Organization as well.
Maude worked at the Meadow Farms many years as a domestic worker and babysitter. Additionally, she worked in the same capacity for Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Harrison and as a non-professional nursing attendant for their family. In later years, Maude worked at Best Western in the laundry room until retirement.
Maude was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She enjoyed cooking delicious meals, baking and hosting family and friends on a regular basis and especially during holidays. She was quiet, humble, mild mannered and truly loved reading her Bible and Daily Devotionals.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Garfield, Edmond, and Lewis Tillman; four sisters, Dorothy Tillman, Harriet Jackson, Betty Mines, and Margeory Robinson.
She leaves cherished memories to her daughter Martrinia Dudley (Michael); two grandsons, Michael Jr. and Maxwell Dudley; devoted and twin, sister Mary Price; devoted nephew, Larry Tillman (Dorine); cherished and faithful friends, Nettie Green and Eloise Romaine; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
